Solid Cherry Dining Table
Customer wanted to replace their rectangular dining table with a square one (5.5'x5.5'), to better accommodate the shape of their dining room. The table is solid 1.75" thick cherry (top, apron, and legs). The corners of the apron which attach to the legs are made of maple. Table has mortise and tenon bread board ends, with classic draw bore dowling techniques to hold each bread board tight against the rest of the table. The square shape was awkward to work on, but always up for a challenge!
Hickory Built-in Entertainment Center
Customer had a recessed alcove in their living room, and wanted to fill it with a custom built-in to hold TV, electronics, and other decor. At ~4.5' W x 9' tall, shelf and cabinet sizing all custom planned and fit per request.
Cabinet carcass is birch, with solid hickory on all faces, trim, and doors. Custom stain and finish to provide a deep, rich contrast; complete with recessed lighting to highlight the warm, elegant color.
Careful consideration went into the design to hide all wiring, and still allow user access to outlets and such. Custom install achieved seamless recessed look.
Rustic Restaurant Tables
Restaurant table tops for the notorious Dippity Do-Dahs® homemade ice cream shop in Corning, NY.
Wood was early 1900s long leaf pine from a salvaged home in Thorndale, TX. As far as rustic goes, these 2x6s were amazing. Between the old nail holes and old lumber mill saw marks, there was so much character and distress to offer.
Underside designed with reinforced with Steel C-Channel to resist cupping and still allow for wood movement. Six table tops in all with a thicker build of clear varnish on each, bringing out the natural patina in this antique pine, while protecting against the occasional or frequent ice cream drip.
Restoration Hardware Redesign
Customer wanted a custom sized table to go into a corner that was going to be equipped with built in bench seating. This table is a spinoff of a style that goes back decades. Many however, associate the base to styles offered by Restoration Hardware, and it is the simplicity of the design that attracts the avid DIY'er. However, from a construction point of view, I wanted to create something that was not just assembled with a bunch of pocket screws. The resulting piece offers solid construction that will hopefully last for years to come.
Table finished with a dark walnut stain, and clear protective top coats, hand rubbed to a satin brass finish.
Rustic Farmhouse Table
Always rewarding when dirty, beat up lumber turns into something great. That was the case here, salvaging some old pine from an early 1900s home in Leander, Texas and repurposing it toward two rustic farmhouse tables. The wood was denailed, the shiplap edges remilled, legs and apron carefully planned, and most of the existing distress left in its natural state. Underside was fitted with a chamfered edge to provide contour and the legs given a gentle taper. The legs were engineered to be collapsible per customer request.
Table has multiple coats of clear oil varnish bringing out the natural patina in this antique pine.
Media Cabinet
Mahogany media/electronics cabinet with pullout shelves and removable top for increased access. Door custom fit to accept a pane of smoked glass.
Floating Bath Vanity
Custom mahogany bath vanity cabinet. Center door with 2 accompanying side-by-side drawers. Drawers are fully dovetailed and ~12" deep.
